February 4, 2026 - Update & Thank YOU!
Dear SHPY Community,
Wow, I am overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, and kind words following my January 17, 2026 announcement (below) explaining current studio struggles and outlining upcoming changes at South Hills Power Yoga.
One of the many unexpected things to happen in the last weeks is that many friends, community members, current students, teacher training graduates, and even former students who have moved out of town (or just to the other side of the tunnels) asked for a way to help ensure SHPY’s future beyond buying a class pass. So, in response, we’ve created our first-ever Studio Supporter Fund.
First, thank you! Second, this makes me totally uncomforatable but as a dear friend reminded me– "SHPY has helped a lot of people, give your community a chance to help SHPY now." And so, here we are.
All contributions will be used to aid South Hills Power Yoga with covering operating expenses and grow into tomorrow.
And just a reminder, Sustainer Passes are still on sale and have been extended through Saturday, February 7.
However you are able to assist– contributing, buying a pass or buying a gift card, telling someone about our studio, bringing a friend to class, renting our space, booking a yoga party, or practicing at our pay-what-you-can class even if you can't put anything in the box– I'm grateful for you and look forward to what we will continue to create together.
Thank you for supporting our sweet little neighborhood studio in the heart of Dormont as we breathe through this transition and stretch into our next pose.

Dear SHPY Community,
The studio is in a moment of transition. I so deeply love our sweet little neighborhood studio and community and for the last many years I’ve been forging ahead with “get the studio through at all costs” as my motto. This has proven to be personally detrimental and ultimately unsustainable. So here we are, with me unable to reliably cover payroll and at my “Hail Mary” attempt to transform the studio into something that can continue and hopefully flourish by streamlining the schedule and getting creative about other ways to use the space.
So what does this mean for you? Starting on January 24, 2026, SHPY will be offering 12 weekly classes (new schedule below) with me teaching the lion’s share of the classes where you can continue to use your SHPY passes. I had to be strategic about which classes to keep for this, and my apologies if your favorite class time or teacher is not currently on the new schedule. My hope, however, is that at some point we will return to a full schedule.
And like with all change comes opportunity! With more open studio time, SHPY will be subletting our space to awesome teachers, so get ready for new and creative independent offerings.
Wanna help? Here are some ways to get involved (and support us as we move to into a more sustainable future):
For SHPY students, purchase a Sustainer Class Pass or Party Package, buy a SHPY gift certificate for a friend or family member, host a Yoga Party with me as the teacher.
For yoga and wellness teachers/practitioners, rent our space for your own offerings.
I’m not sure what the future holds for SHPY and I’m grateful for each of you and what we have built together. Here’s hoping this back-to-basics approach helps us be here to celebrate year 16 in April of 2027.
Like I often say in my classes: It’s okay if you fall out of a pose, because you can choose to rebuild it at anytime.
