Jan 2026 Studio Update

Dear SHPY Community,

The studio is in a moment of transition. I so deeply love our sweet little neighborhood studio and community and for the last many years I’ve been forging ahead with “get the studio through at all costs” as my motto. This has proven to be personally detrimental and ultimately unsustainable. So here we are, with me unable to reliably cover payroll and at my “Hail Mary” attempt to transform the studio into something that can continue and hopefully flourish by streamlining the schedule and getting creative about other ways to use the space.

So what does this mean for you? Starting on January 24, 2026, SHPY will be offering 11 weekly classes (new schedule below) with me teaching the lion’s share of the classes where you can continue to use your SHPY passes. I had to be strategic about which classes to keep for this, and my apologies if your favorite class time or teacher is not currently on the new schedule. My hope, however, is that at some point we will return to a full schedule.

And like with all change comes opportunity! With more open studio time, SHPY will be subletting our space to awesome teachers, so get ready for new and creative independent offerings.

I’m not sure what the future holds for SHPY and I’m grateful for each of you and what we have built together. Here’s hoping this back-to-basics approach helps us be here to celebrate year 16 in April of 2027.

Like I often say in my classes: It’s okay if you fall out of a pose, because you can choose to rebuild it at anytime.
